Not only will it keep your energy bills down, but it will also assist in reaching the desired temperatures without your HVAC struggling.

Why Should I Change My Filter?

People often underestimate the value of the humble air filter. They are an essential tool in your home as they remove the dander, dust, and other pollutants from your home. Instead, they provide you with clean, fresh air.

Air filters also block any large objects from getting inside the HVAC system. Hence, if you don’t change your filter on time, you end up with clogged filters that leave you with dirty air. Additionally, over time it causes damage to the HVAC system.

How Do I Find the Size?

The manufacturer often prints the size you require on the side of the frame. Once you remove your old filter, you should see it as the size is written in bold. In addition, there are small numbers for the actual size.

If you are unsure, you could always measure the filter yourself. You will need to measure the length, width, and depth. It’s important to note the measurements may not be round numbers. Air filters can fit into your HVAC even if they are ⅛” to ¼” smaller. As a result, they are designed to be able to suit multiple HVAC units.

Installation

When you come to change your air filter from FilterKing, it’s not as complicated as it looks. Start by turning off the thermostat and disposing of the old filter. The way to do it is to wear a mask, gloves, and safety goggles.

When you remove the filter, look out for the direction of airflow. You will want to put the old filter in a bag that you can close without getting it dusty. When disposing of, do it correctly, as you won’t want the pollutants to circulate back into your home.

Hence, you should replace your air filter every 30-90 days. This will depend on the type of filter and if a family member has allergies or asthma. Finally, turn on the thermostat and enjoy clean air.

To replace it, you will need to have a marker at hand. You want to write the date that you installed the new filter. There should be a place on the filter to do so. To complete the installation, place the filter into your HVAC with the arrow facing the blower motor. Always refer to the manual or call out a professional for help.

Set Reminders

With all of us living busy lives, unfortunately, it’s easy to forget the HVAC filter. However, there are easy ways to remember when it’s time. Set a reminder on your phone, or write it in your calendar, this way, it actually gets done!
